The 7th Red boys basketball team hosted Batesville Monday night for their first action after Thanksgiving and came away with a 45-35 victory. The Spartans came out strong scoring 8 first quarter points compared to Batesville's 4 points. Even though the boys missed out on a few easy opportunities early, they did a great job of continuing to pound the ball inside to build a lead. Connersville increased their lead in the second period as they grabbed a 21-10 advantage heading into the break. Batesville was in a similar situation against Connersville earlier this year when they were down ten at the half. The Bulldogs battled back and took the lead in the third so the Spartans knew it was important to have a good start to the third quarter this time around. Connersville did just that as they scored seventeen third quarter points to build their lead to 38-22. Batesville kept battling throughout but just couldn't muster a comeback as they fell in the end. Leading the way for Connersville was Leo Moyer with 10 points followed closely by Desmond Shipman and Bryson Walker with 9 each. Kohl Britton tossed in 5 points with Alec Lakes adding 4. Noah Frost and Harper Buckles both scored 3 points with Kash Cotton chipping in 2 to round out the scoring. Connersville is now 8-0 on the season and host Hagerstown on Thursday.
