The 7th Red boys basketball team took care of business once again as they welcomed Hagerstown into Spartan Arena and came away with a 36-17 victory. The Tigers came out and battled the Spartans in the opening period but Connersville still held a 12-8 advantage after six minutes. Connersville's defense stepped up the rest of the way as Hagerstown just couldn't find much space to put the ball into the basket. The Spartans outscored the Tigers 7-2 in the second quarter to take a 19-10 lead into the break. The boys came out hot in the third quarter as they built their lead to nineteen at the end of the period, 33-14. Scoring for both teams was minimal in the final period before the Spartans picked up the lopsided win. I was happy with the way our boys continued to show toughness and intensity on the defensive end after the first quarter. It really allowed us to pull away even though we had a few missed opportunities throughout the game. Leading the way for Connersville was Desmond Shipman with 13 points followed by Bryson Walker with 8. Leo Moyer dropped in 6 points as well with Noah Frost and Anthony Becker each adding a bucket. Alec Lakes and Eli Maze each added a free throw to round out the scoring. Connersville is now 9-0 on the year and will travel to East Central Monday to battle the Trojans.
