The shorthanded 7th grade girls were in action Saturday to take on Southwestern for their 6th game of the week. The game started off very slow with good defense and Southwestern taking the first quarter 2-0. 2nd quarter is when the lady spartans took off and didn’t look back, taking an 8-5 lead into halftime and continued their fine play throughout the game to get the teams first win of the year by the score of 18-9. Before the game I told the girls to rebound the ball and to have fun and that's exactly what they did. Kastin Van Meter led all scorers with 5 points followed by Elli Bentley and Blakelynn Branstetter with 4 each, Kyra Branstetter with 3 and Melanie Killion with 2. Lady Spartans are Home again on Wednesday to face Muncie Southside at 5:30
