Lady Spartans were in action last night taking on Cambridge City(Lincoln) on the road. Coming off a win last week where defense was key, last night's game turned out to be all about the offense. Like the game against South Dearborn, it came down to the end. The first quarter ended very close with the Lady Spartans leading by the score of 7-5. Second quarter we got off to a wonderful start with back to back 3 pointers by Kyra Branstetter and built a 7 point lead going into halftime by the score of 17-10. Second half is where it got interesting and the Lady Golden Eagles mounted a comeback. They outscored us in the 3rd quarter 10-4 and only down by 1 going into the fourth(20-21). It was a fight in the last quarter with 4 lead changes and tied up with 10 seconds left in the game at 31-31. Ball was put into play under our basket where Ella Hammons threw a great inbound pass to Kastin Van Meter for a layup and sealed the win 33-31. Leading the way was Kastin Van Meter with 15 pints, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks, followed by Krya Branstetter with 9 points 3 steals, Elli Bentley with 4 points, 2 steals and 4 assist, Ella Hammons 3 points 3 steals and Jada Richardson having 2 points and 2 rebounds. Lady Spartans are back in action tonight when we travel to Batesvilles. First game is at 5:30pm. A reminder that Thursday will be the last game for the team as we face Greendale Middle at home.
