The Boys Golf team competed in their home Invitational on Saturday and came away with the championship for the 1st time in 6 years shooting their lowest 18 hole score of the season with a 321. The Connersville Invitational has brought many competitive teams from all over the state throughout the years. Connersville has finished as runners-up on numerous occasions, and to win it again was a blessing. The match was the last match played at home for 4 Spartan Seniors. Trey Hughes, Aiden Gibbs, Logan Young, and Talon Sherwood each played solid rounds despite wet and muddy conditions. To win their last home invitational is something these boys will carry with them. To win on your course in your last home match, especially in a multi-team invitational, is a storybook ending. Each of these boys had determination in their eyes and left nothing to chance. I was so proud of them and how they managed the course today. Senior Trey Hughes tied for 1st, and a playoff would ultimately decide the low-medalist champion. It would take 3 playoff holes to determine the winner, but Hughes prevailed on the 3rd playoff hole with a par on 18, defeating Ryder Flannery from Rushville. Ryder has been playing great golf lately, but Trey held on and won his 2nd playoff of the season. Connersville placed 3 in the top 5 as invitational medalist.
