The JV Boys Soccer team competed in their first full game in more than two weeks as the Richmond Red Devils visited Spartan field. The Spartans came out pressing the Red Devils and controlled possession throughout much of the first half. Just 7 minutes into the game, Treyton Johnson put the Spartans on the board on an assist from Graham Ferguson to take an early 1-0 lead. It took the Spartans only 3 more minutes to find the back of the net again when Ferguson scored on an assist from Caeser Orr for a 2-0 lead. Later, Lachlan Martin would put the Spartans up 3-0 on an assist from Bronson Lykins. Connersville's midfielders and defense would keep the Red Devils away from any serious threat the entire first half. The Spartans played an almost perfect first half, holding possession, controlling the tempo, attacking the ball, and working together all over the field. In the second half, Richmond got a little momentum as the JV team went away from some of their core principles, allowing Richmond to cut the lead to 3-1. The Spartans would regroup, and later Orr would score on an assist from Levi Steele to put the home team up 4-1. Richmond added a late goal, but the Spartans would come away with the victory 4-2. The Spartans' next full game will be a week from Saturday as they travel to Jay County to take on the Patriots.
