On Wednesday, the CMS Lady Spartans traveled to Richmond for the second day in a row, this time heading to Richmond High School to play the Red Devils of Richmond Intermediate Schools. From kick-off, the Spartans were on the front foot, controlling possession and having lots of touches in the attacking third. They created plenty of pressure and chances, some from corners and others from open play. However, despite the sustained attack, the half ended 0-0. The second half opened much the same as the first, with the Lady Spartans pushing the ball down the field and keeping it there. In the 35th minute, Emma Haffner (6th) scored the opening goal of the game and the first goal of her CMS career; congratulations, Haffner! Fourteen minutes later, the Lady Spartans scored again, this time coming from Lillian Whited (7th), scoring the second goal of the game and her second of the season. This goal ultimately became the game-winning goal. As the half wore on, Richmond sprang a counterattack, caught the defense out of position, and scored to make it 2-1.
